Together with the residents of the student dormitories we went on an exciting journey into the past and visited the exhibition “Roads Not Taken. Or: It could have been different”. Beginning with the Peaceful Revolution of 1989 in East Germany and ending with the revolutionary events of 1848, the exhibition at the German Historical Museum shows historical reality, but also other possible historical outcomes. History thus appears as an open process.

History of Germany would like to gain. Come with us on a journey through time and experience firsthand how Germany became what it is today and how it could have been different, starting from early history to the present.
The rich history of Germany from early history to the present will be shown. You will learn about significant historical events, such as the German Revolution of 1848 or the division of Germany during the Cold War. Meet important personalities like Martin Luther, Johann Sebastian Bach or Otto von Bismarck.
A special highlight of the event is the interactive “Contemporary Witness Studio,” where you can decide for yourself which stories you would like to hear and how you would like to experience the events.
